Talentweek: innovatieve dans én stimulering van talent

Programma voor dansmakers/choreografen
Tijdens de Talentweek volgen dansmakers/choreografen op uitnodiging een intensief programma. De Talentweek is voor hen een bijzondere gelegenheid om zich verder te ontwikkelen als choreograaf/dansmaker. Deelnemers leren van elkaar en zijn vernieuwend bezig met dans in relatie tot andere vakgebieden. Gastsprekers uit andere disciplines (bijvoorbeeld de wereld van film, beeldende kunst, architectuur, mode, nieuwe media, psychologie etc.) dagen hen hiertoe uit.

Publieksprogramma
Daarnaast vindt er voor het publiek een parallelprogramma plaats met trainingen, lezingen en korte presentaties. Deze vinden plaats op diverse locaties en zetten Brabant en in het bijzonder Tilburg als City of Dance verder op de (internationale) kaart. In het web van Tilburg Dansstad vindt de ontmoeting met een nieuw publiek in de alledaagse publieke sfeer regelmatig plaats. Denk aan de dansovervallen in oktober dansmaand met flirts met stadse subculturen zoals hiphop, uitgaan, multimedia en mode. De samenwerking met amateurs is bewust ingebed. De Talentweek kijkt naar de visie van psychologen, filosofen en stedenbouwkundigen binnen de openbare ruimte.

Talentweek: 22 tot en met donderdag 26 januari 2012
Van zondag 22 tot en met donderdag 26 januari 2012 vindt de tweede editie van de Talentweek plaats.

After the succes of last year's edition, the second edition of the Talent Week will take place from Sunday January 22nd until Thursday 26th 2012

During the Talant Week the selected participants (choreographers / dance makers, who reacted at the open call) follow this five-day intensive programme. Some parts of this programma are also open for public. This intensive programme takes place in Tilburg, and is organised by Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts, Dance Academy), Danshuis Station Zuid, Theatre De NWE Vorst, Kunstbalie and Productiehuis Noord-Brabant (’s Hertogenbosch) in cooperation with Mundial Productions.

The programme for Dance makers / choreographers
The programme is mainly a special opportunity for choreographers / dance makers to develop further. They will be able to learn from the other participants (ca. 25 in total), do some networking, and work in an innovative way on dance in relation to other disciplines. During a five day intensive program of lectures, performances and workshops by well-known artists, they can meet other choreographers and exchange to invest and nurture your own creative development. Participants will be challenged by guest speakers from other disciplines. Furthermore, we offer workshops by, amongst others, Pia Meuthen, Arno Schuitemaker and Paulo Nunes. The themes of the week will be introduced by a talk with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and lecturer Guy Cools.

Theme: Mirrors of identity - inspirational bodies.
The theme of this second edition is Mirrors of identity - inspirational bodies.
• How do we, as artists, form and transform our identity in dialogue with others and the world around us?
• What are the bodies that inspire us? Literally, other skin, other age, other abilities, other
professions… but also metaphorically.
The recent developments in neuroscience (e.g. the mirror neurons) underline how we basically learn through imitation and how we integrate and embody the unknown, the other both sensorial and somatically (e.g. in synaesthesia) and intellectually and verbally (with metaphorical thinking as an inane process). I is an Other.
A strong focus will be again on transdisciplinary practices: how do people work and think in other disciplines, the arts, science, sociology, anthropology, and how can we translate these practices into our own creative process.
