Sonja Augart-Fragmenta
Sonja Augart works as an independent artist, choreographer and performer. She studied at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie and at the Fonty Dansacademie in Tilburg (NL).
After finishing her studies in 1998 she made different works, which contained
side-specific work (for example: on the roof of a parking garage or in shopping-malls), choreography for theatre and also time-related performances. What concerns her own work at the moment:
On one side she is interested in using the human body/the performer for time related performances, during which the body/performer is functioning like an object that uses only common movements.
And on the other side she is busy with more specific patterns of motion, for example the pattern of “falling”. This pattern is the starting point of her new choreographic work “Aschblau- Space here I come”. This performance is situated on a bouncy castle, which is at the same time the stage, an instrument, an auditorium and a disco.
Except in her own work, Sonja Augart performs and performed for Jerôme Bél,
Tim Etchells ( Forced Entertainment), Fréderic Flamand, Anouk van Dijk and many others.
In 2003 she established FRAGMENTA (Tilburg), an association for the support/ production of dance related projects. See www.fragmenta.nl.
Since 2008 she is programmer for Dance/ Performance Art and Theatre at the Independent Festival Incubate in Tilburg (www.incubate.org). In 2008 she invited Sweet & Tender to Tilburg and organised a debate and a Laboratory in which different artists were involved.
Since 2010 - 2011 she was curator at Theater Frascati in Amsterdam in which she was responsible for the Something Raw Festival 2011.
